A statement from our founders:
As we reviewed work by this session’s cohort, we were struck by a bewitching sensation of swirling rendered through marks, patterns, and materials. A similar movement is found within natural representations such as sky, wind and light. The artists are united by their shared interest in exploring the beauty and evanescence of the organic world; of fragile moments lingering upon dissolution. Through their use of various mediums, including analog film and handwritten notes, they offer a poignant reminder of the often invisible liminal spaces within our daily existence. Transience is captured through depictions of floral arrangements and obsolete objects and additionally evoked through the fleeting memories of landscapes and even notions of bodily consumption. By focusing on these elements, the artists invite us to slow down and take a closer look at the world around us, reminding us of what can be found in the overlooked and the forgotten. By highlighting the precious, these artists challenge us to form a deep appreciation for the minutiae of, simply, being.
