Meet Olivia Taylor

Olivia Taylor is a MFA candidate at Brooklyn College who primarily works in sculpture. She creates tactile, stylized and interactive sculptures using materials such as silicone, foam and plastic.  Her works reference the body and its functions, as well as identity (specifically her own) and its ties to commodity.  These sculptures are all fabricated with the intention of audience participation.  They are meant to be touched, often producing a physical reaction that engages the viewer and creates an active exchange rather than a passive one.

You can see her work in person at our upcoming exhibition Dimensions of Alterity opening Friday April 13th, 7:00 - 10:00PM, and also at Open Studios at Brooklyn College Wednesday, April 11 12:30 – 4:00PM, Friday, April 13th 6:00 – 10:00PM, and Saturday, April 14th 12:00 – 6:00PM.
