carrie R
carrie R is a Philadelphia-based artist who works in sculpture, drawing, and digital media. carrie received her BFA from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University, and is the recipient of a Common Field Travel Scholarship and a James O. Dumont Travel Grant Award. Most recently she has exhibited with 5-50 Gallery (NYC), Below Grand (NYC), and Paradice Palase (NYC/Online). Her current work includes free-standing and wall-based sculptures made in hydrostone and aquaresin with applications of pigment, marker, and oil color. Influenced by psychological fiction and domestic surroundings, the work references heightened emotional reactions to personal histories such as freak accidents and solitary moments. Often pointy, plant-like, and anthropomorphic, these forms contain thematic elements of fear, solitude, self-preservation, and beauty.
